Publication Ethic

JELMaR (Journal of Educational Learning and Mathematics Research) is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to become a reputable scientific forum and an authoritative source of information in mathematics education. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, and scholarly studies in the fields of mathematics teaching and learning, mathematical thinking, mathematical abilities, digital technology in mathematics education, assessment and evaluation in mathematics education, and ethnomathematics. Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The following statements describe the ethical standards expected from all parties involved in the publication process of JELMaR, including authors, editors, and reviewers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate account of the research conducted as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Research findings should be reported honestly and accurately without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references to permit replication of the work by other researchers. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original. Any work or words of others must be properly cited or quoted. Manuscripts must not be submitted simultaneously to another journal. All submitted manuscripts will be checked using plagiarism detection software before entering the review process.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Manuscripts describing substantially the same research should not be published in more than one journal or primary publication.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced the reported research. Appropriate recognition should always be given to the contributions of previous researchers.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, or interpretation of the study. All persons who have made substantial contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors should disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their research. All sources of financial support should be clearly identified.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published article, the author is obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in retracting or correcting the article.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. The decision is based on the manuscript’s originality, significance, scientific quality, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope. Editors may consult reviewers and members of the Editorial Board before making the final decision.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit without regard to race, gender, religious belief, citizenship, institutional affiliation, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and publisher as appropriate.

Review of Manuscripts

Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts undergo a fair, objective, and timely peer-review process conducted by qualified reviewers. Editors should maintain the integrity of the review process and ensure that reviewers remain independent and free from conflicts of interest.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and helps authors improve the quality of their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness

Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or unable to provide a timely review should notify the editor and decline the review invitation.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly and support their recommendations with appropriate arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Reviewers should also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any published work known to them.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript for personal research purposes. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, institutional, or other relationships with any of the authors or organizations associated with the manuscript.
