Author Guidelines

The Manuscripts

Manuscripts submitted to JELMaR (Journal of Educational Learning and Mathematics Research) must be original scholarly works that contribute significantly to the advancement of mathematics education research and practice. The journal welcomes original research articles, review articles, and scholarly studies related to mathematics teaching and learning, mathematical thinking, mathematical abilities, digital technology in mathematics education, assessment and evaluation in mathematics education, and ethnomathematics.

Authors are required to submit their manuscripts electronically through the online submission system available on the JELMaR website. The corresponding author must ensure that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal guidelines may be returned to the authors before entering the review process.

General Instructions

  1. Manuscripts submitted to JELMaR must be original scientific works and must not have been published or submitted simultaneously to another journal or conference proceeding.
  2. Manuscripts may be written in English. Authors are encouraged to ensure that the language used is grammatically correct and academically appropriate before submission.
  3. The manuscript length should be between 10–20 pages (approximately 4,000–8,000 words), including tables, figures, and references.
  4. Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) and follow the official JELMaR manuscript template.
  5. The manuscript should be typed using Book Antiqua, 11 pt, single-column format, 1.15 line spacing, and A4 paper size with standard margins according to the journal template.
  6. All tables, figures, and illustrations must be embedded within the manuscript at appropriate positions and provided with clear captions.
  7. Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. All submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software, and the similarity index should not exceed 20%.

Structure of the Manuscript

1. Title

The title should clearly reflect the content of the manuscript and should not exceed 20 words. It should be concise, informative, and written using title case without unnecessary abbreviations.

2. Author Information

The names of all authors should be written without academic titles. Each author's institutional affiliation, city, country, and email address must be provided. The corresponding author should be clearly indicated. Authors are encouraged to include their ORCID identification numbers.

3. Abstract and Keywords

The manuscript must include an abstract written in English consisting of 150–250 words. The abstract should briefly describe the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the study. References, tables, figures, and unexplained abbreviations should not be included in the abstract.

Provide 3–5 keywords that accurately represent the content of the manuscript.

4. Introduction

The introduction should present the background of the study, research context, relevant literature, and the research gap that motivates the study. Authors should clearly state the objectives, significance, novelty, and contribution of the research. The introduction should lead logically to the research questions or hypotheses.

5. Methods

The methods section should describe the research design, participants or subjects, instruments, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques used in the study. Authors should provide sufficient information to enable replication of the research. Ethical considerations and approval information should be included when applicable.

6. Results and Discussion

The results section should present research findings clearly and systematically in relation to the research questions or objectives. Tables and figures should be used only when necessary to improve clarity.

The discussion should interpret the findings, explain their significance, compare them with previous studies, and relate them to relevant theories. Authors should emphasize the contribution and implications of the findings for mathematics education research and practice.

The combined Results and Discussion section is expected to comprise approximately 70–80% of the manuscript.

Tables should be numbered consecutively and titled above the table. Vertical lines should be avoided. Figures should be numbered consecutively and captioned below the figure.

7. Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the main findings of the study and directly answer the research objectives or questions. Conclusions should be based on the research findings and should not merely repeat statements from the discussion section. Recommendations for future research may be included when appropriate.

8. Acknowledgements (Optional)

Acknowledgements may be included before the reference list. Authors should acknowledge funding agencies, research grants (including grant numbers), institutions, or individuals who have made significant contributions to the study.

9. References

All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the manuscript.

References should primarily consist of recent and relevant scholarly sources, especially journal articles. Authors are encouraged to use references published within the last ten years whenever possible.

At least 80% of references should come from scholarly journal articles, while the remaining references may include books, conference proceedings, dissertations, reports, or other credible academic sources.

Authors are strongly encouraged to cite relevant articles previously published in JELMaR where appropriate.

The manuscript should contain a minimum of 25 references for research articles and 40 references for review articles.

For citation and reference management, authors must use Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or other reference management software. References must be formatted according to the APA 7th Edition (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association) style.

Manuscript Template

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official JELMaR Manuscript Template, which can be downloaded from the journal website.
